This piece is made from stainless steel, a durable, recyclable, and hypoallergenic material, which offers a more sustainable option compared to many other metals. While the gold and silver plating processes are more resource-intensive and involve chemicals, stainless steel ensures longevity, which contributes positively to sustainability. The recycled acrylics used in this piece help reduce plastic waste by repurposing existing materials, although acrylic remains non-biodegradable and can contribute to microplastic pollution over time. However, its use in small quantities for jewelry makes its overall impact significantly lower compared to larger applications.

Production practices: Highly sustainable

These earrings are handmade by two designers in their studio in Utrecht, Netherlands. The small-scale, artisan production helps minimize waste, energy consumption, and the carbon footprint typically associated with large-scale manufacturing. Additionally, sourcing materials locally within Europe reflects a strong commitment to reducing transportation-related emissions. The use of eco-friendly, FSC-certified cardboard packaging further enhances sustainability by ensuring responsible material sourcing and minimizing environmental impact.

We advise you to take off your jewelry before sleeping or showering. Please avoid chemicals like bleach or chlorine. These can damage the plating and the surface of stainless steel metal. Therefore, we recommend you remove any jewelry before swimming in chlorinated pools. To minimize wear and tear, avoid wearing your jewelry while performing activities where it may get damaged, scratched, or come into contact with chemicals.
